Project Overview

To create a new user-friendly website for Desert Chill Ice Cream - the UAE’s premier ice cream van service. Since 2008, the company has served parties, schools, corporate and sporting events. 

Goals
  • To create a website based on the design mockup by Desert Chill’s inhouse design team
  • To improve the dated aesthetics of the old website
  • To add more functionalities for customer conversion rates and add the latest and best practices

How we achieved the goals:
  1. Analyse the design mockup to build a strategy on how to improve the website structure and what features/integrations are needed for the new website.
  2. Establish the sitemap of the website for SEO purposes (Search Engine Optimisation.
  3. Install integrations, data input for static & dynamic pages.
  4. Complete planning & strategy on how to merge the site with their existing email marketing CRM, lead collection database and Google Analytics tool.

Constraints and how we overcame them

Constraint 1

The design mockup was missing a few critical screens. This meant we had to go through several rounds of low fidelity wireframing, which later helped us to reestablish the key features of the site.


Constraint 2

Due to technical limitations, we were unable to connect the website to Desert Chill’s existing mailing and lead database system. Instead, we took a more streamlined approach of connecting the site to a more user-friendly 3rd party integration.

Website Features
  1. Responsive website built on Webflow, which is entirely dynamic with easy to edit functionality.
  2. Website passed the heuristic evaluation test.
  3. Web design optimised with good colour contrast for increased conversion.
  4. Good placement of call to action buttons and forms throughout the website. 
  5. Advanced Google maps for users to be able to check for delivery vans closeby.
  6. Hotmaps analytics to track and measure user actions on site for marketing purposes.
  7. Whatsapp chatbox.
  8. Automated email marketing, and auto-updating subscribers list in the database (these processes are done by Zapier).
